El argentino Walter Montillo ingresó desde la banca y encontró la ruta del triunfo de Universidad de Chile sobre Unión Española, anotando el primero de los tres goles azules en el Estadio Nacional. Los otros dos tantos fueron de Angelo Henríquez y Joaquín Larrivey.
